This healthy version of BBQ sauce is the perfect base to Balsamic BBQ mushroom pizza and best of all stores for a week in the fridge so you can use it more then once!

Ingredients
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup crushed tin tomatoea
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon molasses
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 teaspoon tamari
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- pinch of black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Method
Sauté onion for 10 minutes allowing some color and caramelization to develop in the pan.
Once the onion is golden, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly so the garlic doesn’t burn. Deglaze the pan with ¼ cup of water.
Add the remaining ingredients and cook for 3 to 5 minutes or until slightly reduced.
Remove from heat and let cool 15 minutes. Transfer to a blender, and blend until smooth. Pour into a jar, and allow to cool. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.
